The “Southern Snipes” area of responsibility was to the East-the complete opposite direction of the shooter. There’s video of them hastily turning and engaging.

Despite a mismanaged and certainly incompetent plan and execution of security… these well trained men hastily adapted and saved a lot of lives.

There was a lot of jackassery on the ground, but there were also squared away MEN getting the job done.
