great story Don - enjoyed it. there's a guy on youtube that goes after starlings now and then as varmit control for local farmers out in the middle of the country. his channel name is Ted's Holdover - he has won national air rifle contests etc. the cool thing that might interest you is how he goes after them with modern high powered air rifles. most are suppressed and so the birds are not spooked and he is able to pick them off one by one. now that your numbers are down to a few, could be useful to go silent using similar air power. would enjoy some videos showing your varmit control activities out there. get em Don!

I just thought I would share this. Dec 19, 2011 I lost a Chief friend and my community lost a young outstanding Chief. He was on his fourth deployment too the Middle east, his third to Afghanistan when he was killed stepping on an IED surveying an MSR for a Route Clearance mission. I was offered this mission coming off my 1 year IA mission in Iraq, but chose to go to a NMCB in Gulf Port to be with My Brothers and Sisters my last deployment Afghanistan.

The Ohio State Senate and House passed a legislation to Honor BUC Raymond Border Killed in Paktika Province, Afghanistan. He is being honored with a road US 36 between Ohio 83 and Ohio 93 with his name on this road. We deployed in Jan 2012 and our Chiefs mess built a CPO Mess in his name on Camp leatherneck..

We used to wreak havoc on the starlings as a kid. My buddy (who lived on a Pig farm) and I would throw corn out in the field then hide behind a stack of straw bales. Then we'd look at each other and count to 3. Up we'd come with a pair of Mossberg 16 gauge pump shotguns. Those starlings would shit themselves and try to get away, but we'd get a shitton of them with the dual action. Those were the days... The barn cats had a plenty of starlings to eat, but they wouldn't touch them. Shitbirds I guess.

I'm glad you have Sherry at your side. to DanO: we're sorry your facial cancer is so damn painful all the time and causing some paralysis. we hope there's a surgery and a good surgeon that will correct whatever's wrong or at least make it manageable. anxiety and depression is completely normal when anyone has a significant medical change for the worse and you two are no different. we're all in that same boat or will be. I hope I haven't betrayed any confidences by saying this but you two have more people that care about you than are on your friends list. fingers crossed for a good outcome. my religion is luck. and I hope both of you receive some.
