I grew up in Central Florida with Orange groves palmetto woods and swamps. Im not a SEAL. But there is something special about running around in that kind of environment as a kid. Most of the time it was just me. When my city buddy would visit he would go out with me. His mom was aways mad because we would be both covered in black swamp mud. I learned to shoot my air rifle without the rear sight adjuster because I lost it crashing through the palmettos. Later one Christmas I got a bolt action 410 shotgun to go duck hunting with the next door neighbor. Your right Don. Letting a kid experience nature is the best lesson in life. A young man learns from the men he is exposed to. My Dad was a industrial maintenance/electrician my Uncle Hubert was a boteny landscaper who worked my ass off in the summer and Christmas break and my Uncle Jim was a 30 year BMC in the Navy. And were just the thing a young boy needs. They all did the same as you. Took me with them and showed me how. They were great times. This block of videos is far better than exposing the phonies.

I can relate to making ends meet while in the Navy. My now ex-wife and I struggled during the early years of my career. They didn't pay much during the 70's and 80's and even into the 90's.

TONGA is a 4 hr flight or a 2 and a bit fay sail from AUS to TONGA.
TONGA is a collection of low lying Islands that are only about 20 feet max above sea level.
Some Islands, not much bigger than a block, were inundated by Tsunami up to 30 feet. The main island copped 4 feet.
These small outlying Islands are cut off from communication and will remain so for a week at best. The undersea cable has been cut in two places and SATCOM is not normal for TONGA. A few Govt devices only.
The Royal Tongan Navy has only 5 ships. Two LCI and 2 Patrol Boats all donated by Australia. The Royal yacht for the King is also on the Naval register.
HMAS ADELAIDE a LHD is due to depart BRISBANE this evening.
HMNZS WELLINGTON and HMNZS AOTERAOA are set to depart NZ now.
TONGA has not asked for assistance. Think of it as a big flood as far as they are concerned.
There may be many many deaths in the outlying Islands, but no one knows yet, its a big ocean and not many resources.
TONGA will have already sent small boats to these Islands, no news is good news. Many of these Islands have only 50-100 people.
RAAF C17 Globemaster is ready to do an Airdrop of supplies if necessary.
TONGA has been Covid free, so she does not want masses of Red Cross etc dropping on the Island.
In my opinion, we are running 3 days late on this mission. We should be ready to sail 24 hrs notice, but its holiday time, all non essential personnel are still on leave.
USA nearest resources are on American Samoa, but no ships at present.
The Mormons have a tight grip on TONGA,I expect once the dust settles, they will take the lead role.
There is not much TONGA needs right now, some extra drinking water, shelters etc. Long term, many trades will be needed to clean up and reconnect things.

I was a city kid who worked a farm in High school, I miss those days. My Dad was not a hunter or a fisherman, so I learned out on the farm with the Country folks. I believe every child should experience the Country life. Great video!!

My grandson lives with my son and his mother about a mile away on just 10 acres but next to state conservation land. Some of the best whitetail hunting in Illinois. With the Mississippi we also share a lot of your lifestyle with waterfowl hunting. What a fantastic story and I’m sure you have plenty more! I wish I could tell you stories of my father as you’d get a hoot out of them. I never served, and actually never thought that there would be a military discount for a phone bill. How do people think of these things? It's easy. If a company asks you, " Did you serve?". Nice. Well done, Don. Very much like I was raised in the Adirondacks of NY. My dad bought land from a closed iron ore mine in the early 60's. 6,500 acres. We put in a boat launch, pub and ski area on the mountain. Hell of a childhood. I can relate to your experience.
