Been a while!

Southeast Asia has always had some of the most warlike people on earth - every country there has very long traditions of brutal rites of passage, martial arts and guerrilla warfare - yet they also always seem to have a great sense of humor and a jolly kind of attitude about life. I can't tell you how many Vietnam veterans I know who voluntarily went BACK to Vietnam later in life because they actually LIKED the culture of the people there despite being involved in a war against them - I highly doubt that many people are going to do the same thing in Afghanistan and Iraq 20 years from now.

Well its been 6 hours and Im not dead. Got a bit of a headache but been drinking solidly for 5 and a half hours to ward off any adverse reaction. Slowly but steadily. I got no aches, pains or chills, cant see me carking it overnight.
I got a free chuppa chup and the injection lady was cute, so I go back in November for round two.
I got it for the good of the Nation, I await my Medal, I guess it will be in the mail.

Evening all! When things look bad in my little world I had a bit of a wake up call. In Woodridge IL today for work and went through one of the neighborhoods hit by the F3 Tornado 5 weeks ago. The path ran about 10 miles and these pictures are from two streets. I thank my lucky stars I’m not going through the emotional loss of your home and then having to deal with Insurance companies and contractors is a mess. When your having a bad day, there is always someone with a little bigger problems. God Bless these folks! God bless everyone on the fantastic site. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸

Don, don't know if you remember him from our shipmate days in Japan he would of been aboard same time "Ensign Crandell" .
Looks like he transferred from USS Lockwood and went to the JAG Corp and is now a 3 star Admiral awaiting congressional approval to become the head Lawyer of the US Navy. Don't envy the grilling he is going to take from Congress sure he can handle it after all he is a lawyer. He will get confirmed but , it is an opportunity to have the politicians out righteous each other on the floor.

I went back to tighty whities after 3 months of wearing boxers in boot camp. Bad decision, the skin between my thighs and balls got rubbed raw.
One of the first things we learned in the Corps was to pull the pee hole to side to keep your crank from popping out.

My friends just got back to Chiang Mai. It literally took them over 500 days because of a trip to the US before the pandemic. They flew 30 hours in masks with their kids and had to quarantine in Phuket for two weeks. Then there were no flights, trains or buses to Chiang Mai so it looks like they drove. They said that everything in Phuket was closed. On a different note, the Thai language is very distinct and not easy to learn. Their kids are 10 and 6 and to hear a blond hair, blue eyed 10 year old speak perfect Thai it turns your head. There great people and I am happy they made it safely.

Some of the best times was training with foreign armies or marines. Canadian dragoons from Saskatoon, a bunch of crazy ass Austrailians, Israeli army and ROK army. I loved every interaction with them all. Some of my fondest memories and the exchange of gear and rank with those folks. I love hearing others stories as well. Brought back a ton of my memories. The best of times.

Crazy thing just found out that Navy reviewed my records and looks like they are upgrading a Valor award and also awarding a Purple Hart, crazy. VA sent a letter about pay and back pay didnt know anything about it.

Great story Senior Chief..." here comes these two dickheads with wicker baskets of chickens and a big ass ammo can".😄

We did the Thai Royal Special forces Jungle survival at the 1st Cobra Gold exercise….That was special 😝😝 they dumped a burlap bag of two cobras in front of us.
