My last squadron VP-11 out of Brunswick Maine we lost 13 airmen in 1979 when the aircraft flying under cover darkness actively tracking a Russian SSBN sub flew into a mountain in the Canary Islands at 350 knots. I’ll tell you the next time you step on board your aircraft to perform your mission you think about the possibility of your fate. We had a replacement aircraft within 48 hours and continued our mission tracking that very sub that combat crew 8 was tracking 2 days earlier. The accident was not disclosed till we returned to the states 4 months later. This was a time before GPS we always had a navigator it was difficult to keep track of your exact location when weather was poor and the nature of the way we were always flying irregular patterns low over the seas to avoid detection. There is no doubt that the Cold War was fought with lives it just wasn’t talked about.

I had the Scare of my life happen to me this morning about 0130hrs, someone knocking at my front door so I turned on my Ring camera and three Sherriff Deputies were on my front porch. The first thing I thought of was something from a long time ago had finally caught up with my ass. Turns out they were looking for someone else who didn't show up for a traffic ticket in court and had the wrong address....WHEW! Didn't go back to sleep for an hour.

Why wait for day drinking when you can start at 02:00 . My friend is with her youngest daughter for her birthday . She is a strong woman . When I'm with her I walk the straight line . When I'm not , it's wild man on a mission to Mars . Having a hard time dealing with things working out . I'm not on a mountain , in a sea can in 36 C with humidity of 80% , food poisoning form camp food , planters foot , fluid in my lungs , and now have stupid skin cancer out of my left side of my neck . With Trent's funneral tommorow I now can only count my own blessings . Lately got my benifits reinstated . Got two broken teeth rebuilt and the pharmacy has sent me a copy of all my meds back to when iI turned 65 for a total of over 625 dollars . Most of all just talked to the company I was in Windsor for the Robotic rebuild at the Chrysler plant and his records showed he forgot to send my Record of Employment . I am now able to receive an other 520 a week employment insurance payment . I can't believe it . Happy happy joy joy .

In the military there are always requirements to advance to the next paygrade. Reading the requirements and buying a pencil for the test does not permit you to display your new paygrade on any thing. Walz was ,is, and will always be one of those guys that does just enough,and no more. His service was part time, his protection of his state by a governor was part time, and if elected with Kameltoe he'll be part time vice president. The choice appears atleast to me to be quite easy. His past will be topic of future arguement. Hopefully his future will not effect me or anyone I care about. I want full time employees taking care of my country, not weekend warriors looking for the easy paycheck, and then quit when ya need them the most. I'll file him away with the others like Rosenthal, Kerry, and now Walz

Tim Walz has been a complete cluster fuck as Governor of Minnesota. I'm sure that he appreciates how the military criticism has helped take attention away from what he has allowed and encouraged in Minneapolis and his mishandling of the 2020 election infection.

"The good old days". Most folks talk fondly about days gone by and not about the future because the future is the unknown. My good old days were the 60s up to the 80s. I remember the old folks back then talkin about how the world has gone fukn crazy, especially during the 60s. As an oldman I now struggle to keep my mind in a good place, it was easier to do this when I was young, hell, it was a given back then. Golden years my ass, but growing old is a gift denied to many. Before all the hoopla started I thought it was clear from the news stories.
Tim Waltz left the National Guard to run for Congress.
Congress seats can get "locked in", the longest serving congressmen made it to almost 60 years and a whole slew of them stayed in for over 30 years. 

You run in the congressional district you live in, it's not something where you can put off a job change.
Guys who have reached military retirement age but not forced retirement age leave to go elsewhere all the time. That VP job at the defense contractor is open now but once it's filled the position may not come up again for years. 

Waltz pushed his campaign rhetoric too far but it's not like any of that matters now.
All anybody can do is let it play out in the election cycle.
