Speaking of Congressional Medals of Honor I acquired this when I was collecting autographs from recipients in the 80s and 90s. I know the autographs and photos are real Ive got about 100 but they were passing away faster than I could contact them. It was fun at the time. I enjoyed the research. I was given this from one family I dont now if it is real or not. It was "you might like this as well" kinda deal. It came with the original Citation the recipient received. That I know is real Ive been offered thousands for the Citation. I have my doubts but the ribbon has changed slightly over the years. Its our of my area of expertise. First Sergeant John R. Hawley, United States Army Corporal Seth Wells, United States Marine Corps Reserve Chief Boatswain’s Mate (SEAL) Stephen Bass, United States Navy Chief Boatswain’s Mate Paula Jaklitsch, United States Coast Guard Reserve Master Sergeant Michael Lamonica, United States Air Force Major George Thiebes, USA – Representing U.S. Special Operations Command
( Not Pictured: Chief Stephen Bass, USN. Operational Security)
Location in Wonderland, with my Alice Apr 2, 2008 Award for heroism in Afghanistan By Otto Kreisher COPLEY NEWS SERVICE November 1, 2003 WASHINGTON – A Navy SEAL assigned to the Special Warfare Center in Coronado received the Navy Cross, the nation's second-highest award, this week for heroism during a rescue mission in Afghanistan. Chief Petty Officer Stephen Bass also was one of three special-operations personnel among six service members honored by a prominent national-security support group, underscoring the unprecedented role special-operations forces played in the Afghanistan and Iraq conflicts. Bass was cited for "extraordinary heroism" during combat operations in northern Afghanistan as part of a U.S. and British special-operations mission to rescue two missing Americans. During the operation, he was "continuously engaged" by small-arms, mortar and rocket-propelled-grenade fire and had to walk through a minefield to reach the Americans, according to a citation honoring Bass. The award statement said Bass advanced nearly one-quarter of a mile "under constant enemy fire" in an attempt to find one of the Americans. When he ran low on ammunition, the SEAL used weapons from dead enemy forces to continue his mission, which resulted in the recovery of the American. The Navy Cross is second only to the Medal of Honor for bravery in combat. Bass was among the first recipients of the "Grateful Nation" award from the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs. The organization also honored Maj. George Thiebes for his actions as an Army Special Forces company commander fighting in northern Iraq and Air Force Master Sgt. Michael Lamonica for two special-operations combat deployments to Afghanistan. The "Grateful Nation" award also went to Army 1st Sgt. John R. Hawley for combat leadership in Afghanistan, Marine Reserve Cpl. Seth Wells for performance under fire in Iraq, and Coast Guard Reserve Chief Petty Officer Paula Jaklitsch for service in New York City during and after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. For extraordinary heroism while serving with the British Special Boat Service during combat operations in Northern Afghanistan on 25 and 26 November 2001. Chief Petty Officer Bass deployed to the area as a member of a Joint American and British Special Forces Rescue Team to locate and recover two missing American citizens, one presumed to be seriously injured or dead, after hard-line Al Qaeda and Taliban prisoners at the Quala-I-Jangi fortress in Mazar-e-Sharif over powered them and gained access to large quantities of arms and ammunition stored at the fortress. Once inside, Chief Petty Officer Bass was engaged continuously by direct small arms fire, indirect mortar fire and rocket propelled grenade fire. He was forced to walk through an active anti-personnel minefield in order to gain entry to the fortress. After establishing the possible location of both American citizens, under heavy fire and without concern for his own personal safety, he made two attempts to rescue the uninjured citizen by crawling toward the fortress interior to reach him. Forced to withdraw due to large volumes of fire falling on his position, he was undeterred. After reporting his efforts to the remaining members of the rescue team, they left and attempted to locate the missing citizen on the outside of the fortress. As darkness began to fall, no attempt was going to be made to locate the other injured American citizen. Chief Petty Officer Bass then took matters into his own hands. Without regard for his own personal safety, he moved forward another 300-400 meters into the heart of the fortress by himself under constant enemy fire in an attempt to locate the injured citizen. Running low on ammunition, he utilized weapons from deceased Afghans to continue his rescue attempt. Upon verifying the condition and location of the American citizen, he withdrew from the fortress. By his outstanding display of decisive leadership, unlimited courage in the face of enemy fire, and utmost devotion to duty, Chief Petty Officer Bass reflected great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
29 October 2002 • 12:01am By Michael Smith, Defence Correspondent The Telegraph.
Special Air Service and Special Boat Service troops hailed for their bravery in operations against al-Qa'eda and Taliban fighters during the war in Afghanistan have won a dozen top military gallantry awards.
Members of the SAS, SBS and the Royal Air Force squadrons that fly their aircraft are awarded four Conspicuous Gallantry Crosses, five Military Crosses and three Distinguished Flying Crosses today.
The list of those honoured for their work in Afghanistan also includes British diplomats, at least one of whom is believed to have been a member of MI6.
Britain's secret service used a number of agents originally developed during the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan in the complex negotiations that led to the rapid demise of the Taliban regime in northern Afghanistan.
Gen John McColl, who commanded the International Security Assistance Force in Kabul is awarded the Distinguished Service Order for his handling of the interim Afghan government.
None of the members of the SAS, SBS, or the RAF's 7 and 47 Sqns is named in today's announcement, which gives details of all awards to ordinary servicemen and women before ending with an anonymous list of "other honours awarded" to cover the special forces.
It was initially thought that at least two of the SAS troops would be awarded the Victoria Cross and although there are four CGCs, the next highest award, the lack of a VC will be seen by members of the SAS and SBS as evidence that whatever they do they are unlikely to receive the highest award for gallantry.
The servicemen involved were warned earlier this year that they would not be receiving the VC despite the fact that their deeds clearly qualified under any sensible interpretation of the criteria.
The warrant for the VC makes only two immutable stipulations: that the recipient shows conspicuous bravery or devotion to his country in the presence of the enemy; and that there should be "conclusive proofs".
Over the years, the latter has been taken to mean that the act of courage should be witnessed by a superior officer, something that is much less likely to happen in a special forces operation than in conventional warfare.
One special forces source said that there had long been a general acceptance at the SAS headquarters in Hereford that members of the regiment were unlikely to receive the VC.
The two members of the SAS who were initially expected to receive the VC were involved in an assault on an al-Qa'eda cave system last November in which four members of the SAS were wounded.
One was the sergeant major who led the operation by a complete squadron of about 60 men to take the caves in which al-Qa'eda terrorists were hiding and was himself wounded.
The other member of the SAS who was expected to receive the VC was at the other end of the cave complex waiting to bring down direct air attacks on any terrorists attempting to escape.
He is to receive his honour because he waited so long before ordering in the air attack that he was wounded by, and risked being killed by, the allied bombs.
At least one member of the SBS was also thought to be in line for a VC. The SBS senior NCO led a patrol of half a dozen SBS commandos who rescued a CIA officer from the Qala-i-Jangi prison near Mazar-i-Sharif in November last year.
So there you have it. ANONYMOUS... for Security reasons. Things are very different in the USA to the UK. I really cant think of anything lower than doubting the bravery of Bass NC MC. Calling him a liar is despicable.
Now if anyone is still stupid enough to doubt Bass you can contact the former Secretary to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Lord Sir Christopher Edward Wollaston MacKenzie Geidt, Baron Geidt, GCB, GCVO, OBE, QSO, PC, FKC.
YOU can also contact the London Gazette enquiry service
YOU have accused Bass of falsely claiming an award from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. YOU have accused him of Stolen Valor. Wake up to yourself and understand you dont know much about how the world works.
Just like to give a huge shout-out to NH on his 6 year anniversary here at ESE. Very nice milestone Doug, I'm not that far behind you. Here's to many more to come bro. Hope you enjoy baching it while Mrs NH is away. For God sakes try not to let the lab bully you around.

An old lady was standing at the railing of the cruise ship holding her hat tight so that it would not blow away in the wind. A gentleman approached her and said, "Pardon me, madam.? I do not intend to be forward, but did you know that your dress is blowing up in this high wind?" "Yes, I know," said the lady. "I need both my hands to hold onto this hat." "But madam, you must know that you are not wearing any panties and your privates are exposed!" said the gentleman in earnest. The woman looked down, then back up at the man and replied, "Sir, anything you see down there is 85 years old. I just bought this hat yesterday!"

Award for heroism in Afghanistan
By Otto Kreisher
COPLEY NEWS SERVICE
November 1, 2003
WASHINGTON – A Navy SEAL assigned to the Special Warfare Center in Coronado received the Navy Cross, the nation's second-highest award, this week for heroism during a rescue mission in Afghanistan.

For the non believers. READ IT AND WEEP.
29 October 2002 • 12:01am By Michael Smith, Defence Correspondent
The Telegraph.
YOU can also contact the London Gazette enquiry service
https://www.thegazette.co.uk/researchservice
YOU have accused Bass of falsely claiming an award from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. YOU have accused him of Stolen Valor. Wake up to yourself and understand you dont know much about how the world works.

An old lady was standing at the railing of the cruise ship holding her hat tight so that it would not blow away in the wind.
A gentleman approached her and said, "Pardon me, madam.? I do not intend to be forward, but did you know that your dress is blowing up in this high wind?"
"Yes, I know," said the lady.
"I need both my hands to hold onto this hat."
"But madam, you must know that you are not wearing any panties and your privates are exposed!" said the gentleman in earnest.
The woman looked down, then back up at the man and replied, "Sir, anything you see down there is 85 years old. I just bought this hat yesterday!"

Great telling of what happened, can't find anything to say that Chief Bass was ever given a knighthood, although he was given a military cross this is not the same as a knighthood.
By the sound of it he probably deserved one.

Productive violence has become a lost art, unlike some pussy liberals that like to talk over you while your talking, of which I have 0 tolerance for, and ALWAYS will! Just once I would love to see a Republican stand up, walk over to one of these weak protected libs, and make them swallow some teeth.

Don, in your mind you never left the Navy. You have PTSD. Obsessed with stolen valor. Get to the VA and get a real life. Videos about blue birds Losing it my friend. Without your YouTube channel you are nothing, hence the PTSD.

Great video Senior, worth the wait for part 2. Sir Bass the bad ass, true American hero. Hope they sent that traitor Jonny Walker back home to the US to face the death penalty, or even better just put one between his eyes over there. Save the American tax payers a lot of money !!
