I was really gettin into that documentary when it ended! lol

The early model 5.56 had a 1 in 14" twist rate, then went to 1 in 12". That made the bullet less stable and caused it to tumble on impact. Now they are 1 in 7", which is much more stable and accurate but less devastating.

1 in 14" at 3300 fps = 170,000rpm
1 in 7" at 3300 fps = 340,000rpm

That's a big difference.
