I was an "on-premise" salesman for a major brewer for 5 years focusing on bars and some resturants. Experience in and out of that field I observed:

(1) Every male patron at every "biker bar is an ex-Seal, and ever female patrons man & all male relatives are ex-Seals. Every harley in the parking lot will have 50 lbs of tritents & seal stickers.

(2) every one of those "ex-Seals" knew Pete Coors personally and I was supposed to pay for all their beer tabs ... they alway trashed our product and only drank bud products (the officall beer of fake Seals)

(3) I don't know what it is about volunteer fireman but 7 out of 10 are ex-Seals. My math is bad but that would mean there are currently at least 14 to 15 million ex-Seals.

(4) Every VFW Post I frequented had mostlly WWII patrons ... very few Korean or Viet vets, and every one of those guys stored Omaha beach in the 1st wave. In a relatively small town I knew most of these families and knew for a fact that these bozos were drafted within the last 9 to 12 months of the war, incuding basic training they never traveled more than 150 miles from home.

He was drafted and inducted into US Army Dec 7, 1940 exactly 1 year prior to Pearl Harbor. 45th Infantry Division, 157th Regiment. Infantrayman Morroco to Tunisa, Sicily, Salareno, Operation Dragoon, Pattons 3rd Army thru to Munich/Dachau. Never talked or bragged about any exploits. Although drafted he never expected anything from the US government. Refused VA benefits. I only found details on his service thru the 45th infantry divison museum in OK City. Most or many of the records destroyed in the St. Lewis fire have duplicate at the museum. A professional team of archivist are working hard to digitals transer them as the paper used in the war is deteriorating.

One passenger was killed on impact, another died shortly after, and the pilot had two broken ankles and could not walk. One passenger, a boy, David Pisurayak Kootook, survived the initial crash along with Hartwell but died after 23 days. The pilot was rescued after 31 days.

I guess I can see why a SEAL might look at him sideways, but he did all that, and ends up teaching SEALS alongside Don? I think I'd just leave that one alone. When you consider some of the most decorated SEALS of his era didn't attend BUDS, What he did may not have been as formalized as the OJT the Corpsmen of that era got, I wouldn't want to have to live on the difference between what he did in Vietnam, and what those Corpsmen and other SEALS did. I am not saying it was the same, but sounds like they were side by side a lot, and I am sure a lot of SEALS saw action in Vietnam, but left without a Silver Star? If one of the Org. Scouts and Raiders could possibly still be alive, and chose to wear a Trident, well, who would call him out? The database is full of guys who technically have no business wearing the WINGED emblem, but they are still "SEALS" today. I'm a civilian, so my vote doesn't count, but IF there was someone who never attended BUDS that I was going to give the nod to, I think a guy with all those awards for valor, who fought along the waterways inserting and retrieving seals, and who managed to find himself in the late 80's teaching at a SEAL team, I think that would be the one. But I don't know shit.

Go back to growing Vegies much better value. Free range chooks are not compatible with Vegies and keeping chooks in pens is cruel so the chooks are finished.

The collapse of the bridge in Baltimore got me to thinking back. Canada's worst bridge collapse happened back in June of 1958. Vancouver, British Columbia... 

 On June 17, 1958, 79 workers constructing the new Second Narrows Bridge in Vancouver, BC, Canada, were plunged into Burrard Inlet when a portion of the bridge collapsed during construction, resulting in the loss of 19 lives, including 15 ironworkers, 2 engineers, a painter and a commercial diver who drowned a few days later while trying to recover a body. Twenty others were seriously injured.
