OK, I have been burning 3-4 cords a winter for heat at our place in NH. The one thing I hate, more than stacking the wood even, is splitting kindling. I have looked at all manner of devices that proport to make that easy. Most of them have you take a 3LB sledge and hammer a piece of wood through a cast iron device. The last two years I bought 50 LBS of fatwood and that did the trick ($50- 60 bucks). This year 50LBS of fat wood is $120 so fuck that. Anyone have any cheap, easy tricks to cut cordwood down to kindling?
