During WW1 it was common for boys aged 15 or so to enlist. During WW2 many boys enlisted in the AIF aged 16 or under. After the war they formed a club called the under 16s. How did they manage to do that? they used older brothers or cousins details as back then, a lot of people were pretty small, under 5 foot 6 as they had a very poor diet. Roland Griffiths Marsh was one well documented boy soldier, you can read about him here. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roland_Griffiths-Marsh The Navy used to take boy Sailors, a throw back to the Royal Navy when people died of old age at 50 but the Army and Air Force didnt. Admirial Cunningham of Hyndethorpe, Admiral of the Fleet started as a boy Sailor under rope and sail and rose to the highest rank in the RN.
