Michael Jaco wasn't the 1st one to tell the kiddies go to Mars stories.
It starts out way back (decades ago) in the UFO genre with aliens doing that to kids and returning them after special training night after night.

Next come kids for other "classified" earthly programs. Duncan & Corso copied the general idea and were not original.

Next it was a US secret space program taking these special kids, Jaco's imaginary program. Michael wasn't the 1st to say he was in that kind of program.

However, the story usually goes that the kids had their memories erased and they only rember later as suppressed memories started to surface and they struggle to make sense out of the suppressed memories.

Obviously there would be no keepsakes like moon rocks.
This works out well for their story because as they change the story it's because of freaky things due to suppressed memories slowly starting to resurface and become more clear.

I'd have to do a lot of checking back but Michael's story is at least the 4th iteration of these tales. They copy each other and change it up.

Her story is in that interview and what happened to her mother and father while she had a pistol in the car and was helpless to do anything.
