Oh my. I need a drink after this one. There seems to be a trend of imposters wearing military garb confronting pro-trump supporters at rallys. One guy is a Marine (alleges) and gets over the top aggressive. He claims all types of war zone activities. I am getting soft too as i get older. I'm feeding pigs my neighbor is raising, and I am worried I am fattening them for the bacon farm. I get too attached.

I see now there is no length of service on the enlistment certificate down here now. Just says "until such time is lawfully terminated". Thats not such a bad thing, because the old Cert used to have a gap between " a period of........Years. And a Clerk would type in three or four or seven for the Navy, on a Typewriter so it looks like shit. Might have been an old Typewriter, dirty Key, not dead level hard press and soft, terrible really on such an important document.

People who have not served say enlisting means nothing. We had a kid killed as a Recruit after 2 weeks, so it does mean a lot.

WOW this is interesting, Reserve Discharge Certificates in Australia are handled by the Defence Reserves Association, which is one step below QANGO, its a private organization. It seems to me they do not have access to the Govt database....I should make myself a Brigadier. They dont know shit it seems.

Applicants should bear in mind that provision of a Certificate of Service is a labour intensive process and requires searches of several data bases such as Honours and Awards. In addition, the transfer of service details from NPEMS to PMKeys has in some cases resulted in information discrepancies and there could be a need for applicants to liaise directly with the Personnel Agency. This may be time-consuming and applicants should be prepared to exercise patience during the processing of their request.

When I was in the Reserves, you got an Enlistment Certificate, but Discharge Certificate you had to apply for. Its always been that way starting with the Army in WW1. Discharge certificates had to be applied for. Im thinking British thinking, well youre expected to do your Duty, a Certificate will take a lot of work, do you really need one old boy? cant your CO give you a reference?
People faking service wasnt considered.

We have no DD214 equivalent as far as I know, nothing so detailed that would be handed out.
