My aunt Marilyn passed away this morning and my family was digging through her pictures. I didn't know she was a nurse in the Korean War! My dad told me that she hated the show MASH because it wasn't realistic to what actually happened. I only saw her a few times during my childhood and twice when I was an adult because she was in another state and it was hard for her to travel. She sent me cards all the time and I would send them to her. RIP aunt Marilyn. I'm gonna miss my pen pal. My dad just told me she was also in Vietnam and somehow survived both wars.

Funny story: I was finally able to go back to my volunteering position today at the veterans home after being out since August. Usually volunteers only come in Monday through Friday for a few hours but they knew how much I've been wanting to go back so I went in today for six hours. I've been volunteering there since I was 14 so I know everybody and everything. I was showing around a new CNA and telling her about the residents. This one resident who shares the same sarcastic asshole humor I do and has no filter saw me walk into his room with this poor volunteer and we started insulting eachother like we do every time I visit and he called me a "cocaine cooch" and I told him he was a jar head with a missing lid (he's a bald Marine) and we burst out laughing then we started to talk. He asked where the other girl was and I went looking for her. She was talking to the supervisor because she actually thought I was verbally abusing this old man. Luckily the supervisor told her that we share the same humor and he loves being talked to like you're a close friend. But now when we talk I have to close the door because apparently other people reported it in the past. Lol.

I feel your pain, Don… Unlike the “Urban Myth” that farming is “The Simple Life”, ain’t nothing simple about it. My grandmother grew up on a farm out in the middle of KS, nothing commercial just feeding a bunch kids. But when the Dust Bowl hit, it wiped everybody out. I’ve even done farm work as a kid seeding, cutting, hanging, and stripping tobacco. Even when stripping, the weather can still affect the outcome. And the fucking copperheads to top it all off. But thanks to the EPA, tobacco is a thing of the past around here. Hang in there, Great things are said of a man that can befriend a wild bird…

Made my friends daughter sign the card and we gave them to my friends mom . Bought a few groceries . Everyone is getting along now . My friend is still on the mountain almost crying every night .
