Afternoon all. Spent my afternoon working on a real sambar stag handled bowie I been trying to get finished for a man in Dallas that ordered it a few months back.
Its a razor blade made out of 1095 hi carbon hammer forged steel. The brass guard I had machined from a block of billet brass. Shes nearing completion with some buffing left to go but its a pretty period piece blade.

Hope everyone's enjoying their weekend.
I just came in from a couple of nights out in my woods. The dog started limping about a day in but it didn't slow him down too much. Inspected his paw and it looked fine but he does have some abrasions on the back of his leg. I'm guessing he probably sat down on one of the stumps I foolishly cut too short that have since splintered.
Other than that it was a good time. Started cutting and splitting more ash and scouted out a couple potential camp sites.
We've been plagued with those damned ash borers and they've wiped out practically every ash tree in the area. The plus side of that is that I have enough firewood on the ground and still standing (for now) to last me a lifetime.

good morning.Well moose hunting season is over. I was unable to do much hunting as I got injured.Hurt my shoulder.However I did get moose meat from the local fish and wildlife protection officer.Confiscated meat from some idiot that broke the law.AST makes for good neighbors.At least I have meat for my freezer.Should finish cutting and wrapping today.What a process but it is well worth it!
