Photo Friday. I took a lot of photos when deployed overseas. This one is from my gunners hatch at "the golden arches" on route Tampa coming into Tikrit, Iraq. Hometown of the notorious asshole Saddam Hussein.
We made a run to FOB Speicher a few miles north of the arches once or twice a week. This was in 2007-2008 during the surge. Route Tampa was a deadly mofo.
A lot of GIs and truck drivers lost their lives on MSR 1 to IEDs, complex attacks ambush/IED during that time. I will post more pics now and then from my albums of places Ive been.

My wife had a clot pass through her lung in the kitchen in front of my oldest daughter. She just froze up and it passed scared my daughter thought she was dying. My father in law was a Navy deep sea diver for years he was always concerned about blood clots. Don I’ll be praying for you 😊

Chief, I can relate, when I was in nam’ I was stationed at Cua Viet, a small camp just south of the DMZ where the Cua Viet river flowed into the South China Sea and it was built on a huge sand dune.
There was no way of escaping the sand, it was everywhere. It was in our clothes, our boots, our bodies, our racks, our weapons, our food, our mouth, our hair, the shitters, our hooch, you name it and it was there!
Like you, we went “commando” to minimize crotch itch and even then that didn’t help.
Even though it’s been over 50 years since then, I probably still have sand somewhere on / in my body.
I’m the “lanky” kid on the right with a Marine buddy of mine.

Also, there not a lack of sand to fill sand bags.

I was diagnosed with Cellulitis in 2020 but docs didn't agree
- Thanksgiving 2019 I had mumps like symptoms but I had Mumps as a kid
- Doc examines and says it's parotitis (mumps like infection)
- Antibiotic and it goes away
- Late March/early April it comes back, Covid is going on so they mail the antibiotic again, goes away again
- Late April/early May I get what probably was Covid
- Late August 1st problem comes back
- They mail an antibiotic but it's not working this time
- Swelling gets 1.5 to 2x the volume of a golf ball and skin is red
- They do a CT Scan and doc thinks it's Cellulitis that started on the outside
- A different antibiotic, it drains out overnight from 2 holes erupting in the skin middle jaw
- CT scan also shows a meningioma which usually isn't malignant but can be
- Radiologist thinks it started where wisdom tooth was coming in sideways
- Get wisdom tooth pulled
- have to deal with all the followup stuff for the meningioma

Army on deck Senior! Damn it Senior that blood clot stuff is no joke. My wife has one with a vena cava filter in her stomach. She has to take Zeralto (sp) blood thinner too. I hope that's not a recurrent of your original blood clot. She said the pain was unbearable when she was in the hospital for two weeks with it.
