the noises, those fuckin BANGING, SEMI-SKREETCHING of the MRI is what sucks the most!!! Im kind of big boy (even before I got lumpy!) broad shoulders and felt almost vacuum packed the last few MRIs Ive had to have! nurses be like, "now once you're in there, ya cant move or we have to start all over again" and thats after me tellin em I been MRI'd more times than I can keep up with, but theres not much chance of me being able to move even if I wanted, so I lay down, (jokingly) ask the nurse to lube my shoulders with some KY, get pulled into the machine, close my eyes and listen to the robotic sounds of cyborgs/androids invading some beach and taking heavy losses...
MUSIC?? yeah, ya cant hear the local radio station 90% of time at the VA hospital (when the music part is actually working).
my 1st MRI was at Madigan Hospital, Ft Lewis, WA in June 93 on just my knee--just my lower body in the machine, hell, I fell asleep (my appointment was at like 2100 hours). I didnt mind the MRI, it wasnt bad, but the countless MRIs since then, all been full body in the tube, ear plugs, robots battling and throwing shit; the constant noise and the pitches of said noises are the part I hate the most, knowing I just gotta lay there, perfectly still and unable to fire back at the commotion going on all around me!

Good luck hunting Don and glad they figured out your malfunction. My ladies Mom who is 91 has recurring UTIs. First one right before Thanksgiving you would think she got dementia overnight. Started talking smack. She stayed with us awhile went home week later another one. Thankfully caught it soon and she's on the mend. Infections are bad news. Hope Everyone is having a great evening.

Had a few of them MRIs over the years now Doc wants me to have another to determine how much of my spine has deteriorated and causing the hip and leg pain plus to see what's up with my right shoulder and probable rotator cuff torn again. Not real happy to have to have another and now the cost is detrimental to the pocket book seeing as how I'm retired and we adopted a little girl that needed a Mommy and Daddy. My first one and in fact each one I have had since then. I always get asked if there is a chance that I might have metal in my body. Well yeah, might very well. So X-Rays before hand then the MRI. I guess the Dr who put me back together years ago got everything out, and the only metal I know for sure in my body now is the screws and plate in my leg and ankle.
Glad they were able to find the infection. My Brother fought infections most of his life after the 60s when he was injured badly and finally succumbed to his last one when he turned 83. He would lay in bed telling us about the bugs on the ceiling and he would reach into the air above his bed trying to get the candy floating above him. Infections are nothing to mess with.

After an MRI, either take some Lassie or eat a couple of stalks of fresh celery, as the IV they give yu for an MRI is highly toxic to your kidneys, and you gotta get the MRI contract fluid out of you system as quickly as possible.
The instructions my VA PCP and I worked out for an MRI, is that I am to be sedated by IV sedatives for head MRI's for four hours in advance of the MRI, plus opiates for pain, an a muscle relaxant, and anti-seizure medication), then saline is to be maintained throughout, and for four hours before the MRI. After the completion of the MRI, and before I am rolled out of the MRI protocol is, I am to be given Lasix by IV, and of course I will have to be on a urinary Cath for about 8-10 hours afterward, so I can stay in bed and take a leaky and get everything captured. My kidneys are a bit dodgy, and I would like to keep both of them as long as possible. Then, we capture urine for a microscopy examination to judge immediate kidney injury cause by the MRI contrast dye. Then I get 72 hours of in-hospital bedrest., with labs every 8 hours.

MRI's..suck..had 4 done at VA...bah-humbug..take care Don...
