Love you guys, and it's so wholesome to watch you with your grandson! Those are memories he'll always cherish.

On the matter of deportation, allow me to share, as it's something I've been witnessing for years, having worked in a refugee center & having friends in the "process."

Pre-1920, white European migrants were swept in. Minimal health check, sponsors on paper only, done. We needed the labor. Those who say "migrants should follow the process like our family did" likely don't know how broken our immigration system is now. It took my friends (model workers & students) 9 YEARS to get their green cards. Every day, living in fear of being deported back to a country they left due to war. (A US-inflicted war, I might add.)

Again, we need the labor but the system is so cruel now. It's clear that they're not doing even minimal screening, as they're sweeping up US citizens, green card holders, asylees, and people who are "in process". If I had that job, I wouldn't want to show my face nor badge either.

21 million people here illegally. Waving the flag of their homeland while they undercut American labor, put upward pressure on the price of rents, groceries, put extra strain on medical facilities, and in some states, they are able to get tax funded assistance. Its been going on so long, their kids are out there at these protests. There is no assimilation ( For instance, the celebrity named Selena Gomez cries for "her people" - that would be Mexicans, I guess - even though she was born in Texas. This country has never been more vulnerable and its never been more open to foreigners. So, if it makes you feel better if ICE doesnt wear a ski mask to arrest and deport them, fine. They can wear whatever you want. Maybe one of those hats with a spinning fan on the top of it, but at the end of the day THEY ALL NEED TO GO BACK

There's no denying who Phoenix belongs to!!! You're a good man Don.. I have a 24 year old step son aka oldest son, his father was in his life but didn't feel the need to teach him about being a man, so I did.. that kid loves me for it and he's now 24 with a little son. I didn't want to be pushy & involve myself unless his mother and father wanted me a part of their sons life. The biological grandpa has only seen this boy twice in almost 2 years of life. He started staying the weekend with g-pa when he was a month old. Something about that little boy and me are drawn to one another and get along great. My stepson is always thanking me for being a great dad to him & now being a grandpa to his boy. I tell him that I'm the one who is thankful for such a blessing in my life.. that grandson (my first & only to date) is my chance to do it even better than the last time.. as parents and grandparents etc we need to ensure that the new generation is being raised better than the last. My early birthday present I got myself last month. I have a bunch of paper sewing patterns that I don't want to cut up (especially the vintage ones) and I can program my own patterns in this. The starting price was over $700, then $200, then $70 when Joann was going out of business so I got a $700 machine for $70. The parents and husband have been too busy to help set up so it's still in the box upstairs.

My supervisor has been encouraging me to try college and I'm happy to announce that I have a meeting at the community college tomorrow at 11 to apply for the Radiology technologist program for next year. I recently learned that high school test scores don't apply for enrollment because they give you the test themselves. Hoping it goes good!
