I think that Mr. Shipley is on to something here, but I would expand on it. I think that all of these posers want attention, that they don't get what they crave out of regular life, therefore they need to try to build themselves up into something they ain't thinking that somehow they will gain character. Any SEAL, any Special Forces, any ex or current Military has character ... has SOMETHING that these posers lack. They had it before they joined, and if they never served they would still have it; that 'SOMETHING' that I can't quite seem to define. But these posers have a big hole in their hearts and in wherever the parts are that make up a mature adult that only lying can fill.

Shoot, I don't think I am expressing myself really well, but what I am also trying to say is that if Mr. Shiply had never served, he would still be a hard working, professional man of character and integrity. He had those parts before he joined and would never have made it through the trials he made it through without those parts. Like I say, I don't think I am expressing myself very clearly. But that which makes us people of honor and integrity, these posers lack and don't understand.
