Had to do this before heading off to work.

This is a picture of the downtown area where I live. That's not fog, it's smoke from wildfires. Some of it is from a local fire, lots of it is from the Dixie Fire and others in California, near South Lake Tahoe. Of course, the local fire was more than likely started by homeless trash, which are protected by this state, and others around us.

1. This is what the downtown area looks like, where many restaurants and breweries operate. Many with outdoor facilities. Making my way home, I drive through downtown, and was expecting it to be a ghost town. Not so. People were being seated OUTSIDE. Families, with kids, seating in extremely hazardous conditions. The AQI was above 400! This is way beyond that initial campfire smell you get when these start. These conditions are more akin to sticking your face in a dirty ashtray and sucking in a good lungful. Every 5 seconds. The sheer stupidity to be out in these conditions just astounds me. One of the local breweries has a grassy open area next to the river and Saturday night, it was 3/4 full. With an Open "Air" concert! On Sunday night, it was packed full. I just shook my head as I drove past.

2. Where is the State and City government "concern" with this? Why isn't the Sheriff and city police driving down the streets warning diners sitting outside and people walking down the streets, without masks, about these obviously extremely hazardous conditions? 'll tell you why. Because there's no political gain from it. If there were, they'd be out there arresting people in droves..."for they're own good".

As for the idiots who are unable and unwilling to forego one night of social drinking, have fun dealing with emphysema and a host of other respiratory problems a few months from now.
