I have to give mad respect to Diane. In January 1977 I went to Detroit to do my physical to qualify to get into the Navy. In the academic testing, they did in the latter part 1976 I qualified in the top 2% which meant if I had been a male I would've been able to serve on a submarine. However since I was a female women were not allowed to serve on ships so I was given the choice of being a nurse or a secretary. I got to the physical part and I weighed 137 pounds. I had muscle and I had solid bones but because the weight limit for my height was 135 pounds I was turned down and denied. And had I been some sort of light boned little twit I could've gotten into the Navy. I could run 5 miles and lift 150 pounds over my shoulders and fire carry that MFer 100 feet. I could scale 6 foot walls but since I didn't fit the male standard of beauty, however I was pretty hot, I couldn't get into the military. So mad props to Diane for serving as one of the first women on board ship and then spend all those nights being awoken to a jarring phone call that wasn't telling you your husband was dead. Bitch let's make some peach cobbler!
