When my mom was in nursing home they called and said Mom wasn’t eating and no food tube to be installed. My brother and I stoped and got sweets, pudding etc and all of a sudden she ate like a wild dog! They were feeding her mashed peas-peas alone not even mashed she hated. No wonder!

This is my son on his sub. He’s in his third year in the navy. His rate is Information Systems Technician Submarines (ITS). He turns 21 in two months. This kid barely passed high school and now he has his top security clearance. I’m over-the-top happy with where he is right now. And I’m so thankful for joining Don and Dian’s site and learning about the navy. If it wasn’t for the Navy, I don’t know where this kid would be.

4 years Navy looked great on my resume. Helped me when I was young.

Serving then Getting out after 3 4 6 years honorably there are many options open as well as vets bennys . On the world outside (millions of GIs did it after WW2) you can start a new life. So make the choice then.  Do a full 20 or more or Go home. There are many reasons or opportunities that can cause you to get out at 8 10 years . A family issue sometimes cannot be compatible with a career and you have no choice but like they say the grass anit always greener on the out side. In my time I've met a ton of guys that regretted getting out mid career only to have to re join and restart the clock again and retire later than if they stayed because none of those years on the outside counted, they just made you older. 

PS Id still be in the Navy if they let me stay but everyone has to retire .
