~Cooking For Thanksgiving Tip 101~

Skiing had me hooked from the start. One cold winter morning, my dad dropped me off at the slopes at 6 a.m., promising he’d pick me up at 4. He was headed to court to help the Flynn Twins, who had somehow managed to hijack the governor’s helicopter. Their brilliant scheme? They’d been trying to buy old warplanes under the name of some school gym equipment company. They planned to put the planes back in service to haul cargo—but the feds weren’t having it.
But I digress. I couldn’t wait to hit the runs. I had a shiny new pair of Hart skis. Killy was rocking his Rossignols, but I stayed loyal to my Head DH 210s—they were rockets on the snow.
The first run was supposed to be the stuff of legends. Instead, it was the stuff of nightmares. I hit a mogul, and just like that, the Harts snapped clean in two. Game over. Total bummer. With nothing left to do, I dragged myself to the café and drowned my sorrows in the only thing I could afford: a toasted tuna sandwich.
By 5 p.m., I was out in the freezing parking lot, watching the sun sink behind the mountains, shivering in the bitter cold. By 6 things went from bad to worse. The tuna started fighting back, and I begged the cook to leave the bathroom unlocked. The hours crawled by. My dad didn’t show—he sent a messenger to get me must have been 8 made it to court in time to see the judge shut things down.  Yeah let’s go home.
The next morning, my skin still burned from the cold, but none of it mattered. The magic of skiing had me in its grip, and I couldn’t wait to do it all over again—even if it meant a little more suffering. Pic of Gun Barrel I think the only think steeper was K22 over at Squaw
