Evening all. With MrsNH gone all weekend I had time on my hands. I also have a stack of books, that I plan to read, next to my bed that could trap me in an earthquake. Given that we were coming up on June 6, I decided on Audie Murphy's To Hell and Back. I realize it's not a D-Day book but it turned out to be pretty damn good. I was expecting something similar to Red Blood Black Sand, With the Old Breed, Guadalcanal Diary, or Helmet for my Pillow. Now, I am only about half way through but, with all the shit he went through, he spends most of his time talking about how they fucked with each other. I guess some things never change.

Tina’s first day back at the office, she did great! I’m heading to SE Wisconsin for a few days for work. Packing a light bag and watching Saving Private Ryan…. Have a nice night everyone. 🙏🇺🇸👍🇺🇸

I'm 74 yrs old. I didn't personally live threw the depression or WW2. I have had lots of family that served. I've known tailgunners, photograpers. sailors, and war plant workers that answered the call. My 2 fortunes in life were a grade school history teacher that brought the war to life for us. The good and the bad. The other was a great uncle that left me with a profound sence of duty. While burning all his WW2 photos in a fire he built in his yard, he told all of us we were living free on someone elses coattails. When it came our time, we had a debt to pay for their work to keep this country Free. I watched a man physically as strong as an ox sitting on a chair burning photos of concentration camps and blown up towns and all the things a military photographer would have seen, weeping like a child. I've seen a sailor with two prosthetic arms drive a motor cycle and wondered at how he did it. My grandmother use to rub her right hand with the missing thumb when ever she felt bad about something. Stamping steel during the war caused that. A tail gunner with a limp, another soldier with a wooden leg. I've touched the numbers tattoed into a womans arm as a child. When I was old enough how could I not answer the call. Today I see kids joining up for benifits and to see the sights of the world. I don't remember ever talking to a friend that thought about avoiding the draft.The world seems to be a little shaky these days, I just hope we never have to Do It Again. To those that paid the bill, I tip my hat and salute you all.

Don and Diane, Thank for what you do! Don I just saw the clip of you in the duck blind with your boots on the wrong feet! It just goes to show every body that "Shit Happens". I enlisted in the Navy in 1973 went MR a school. My first ship was the USS Wiltise DD716. we decommissioned her in January of 75 and I went to the USS Reclaimer ARS 42 out of Pearl. My entire family were military. My Dads older brother retired as a senior chief Ship Fitter my Dad was medically retired also in 1964 as a chief torpedo man. My older brother retired from the Army reserve as a e8 top sergeant I got a school cut in 1977. My reason was a woman who dumped me the day I got out, dumb, RIGHT! My younger brother went into the army and flew Chinook s for six years. The really cool part is the younger brother started a helicopter company and now my older brother and I work for him! My older brother was I Nam in 72/73 with the first air car asa crew chief door gunner. I was a Master auto tech for 25 years and now I'm the fleet Maintenance manager for the helicopter. My point is that without military service non of us would be where we are today! Thats why I support what you do! Between all the men in our family we have over 100 years of service, something we are very proud of! If you every need any help in the Texas Hill country Cain me I would love to get in the face of a fake!
