Today, when I was leaving work, I noticed an elderly lady in the parking lot. She was just standing there looking around. I asked her if she was waiting for a ride or needed any help. She told me she was looking for her car. I asked her for her key fob. I told her she could just hit the panic button and the horn would sound. I asked what kind of car and color did she drive. She said a blue Ford Escort. I walked around the parking lot and couldn't see her car, she couldn't find the keys. I noticed she wasn't really dressed for the weather. I asked her if there was anyone I could call for her, she didn't have a phone. Thank God she had her daughter's phone number on her. I called her daughter and said hey I'm with your mother and she can't find her car. Turns out mom hasn't had a driver's license in years. She suffers from alzheimer's and wondered away from the nursing home she's in. Explains why she wasn't dressed for the weather. I told the daughter where we were and that I would wait for her to come and pick her mother up. We waited in my car for about 15 minutes. This woman could remember things from her childhood with vivid memory. Her daughter showed up and couldn't thank me enough. I said, "No problem, your mom and I had a wonderful chat while waiting." There but by the grace of God, Father Time can be cruel. This time it had a happy ending. How can these residents just wander off from a nursing home?

Plugged in my diesel/electric truck. It would have started without it but it's easier on the motor and I wasn't in a hurry.

heres a semi famous place just south of huntington- it huntington then hx state beach then newport- u can see the pier from lifeguard tower 17- its like a 2 mile walk but the beach gets sloped so its not such an easy walk- newport has a set of rock jetties- i had several days where there was a south swell with a side current- i would go in the water on the north side of one of the jetties and then the waves were breaking right about where the rock jetties ended- i avoided a lot of side current because of the jettie but still i drifted north or west substantial- when i got close the west jettie i swam in and walked back- this is also a good place but i cant find parking too good- some of u guys might be familiar with this place

faster than gravity- heres a good example of a glassy condition wave- with a "standing in the water" view- yeah like this but this pic is from torrey pines- uh duh where was i? over 5 days- after a day or two the beach will get a side current that will push u north- (not really its west)- very much- it makes it harder to stay where u think the waves will be- a lot of times i would ride waves as i drifted as i waited as i caught good rides for a couple hundred yards and then swim in and walk bak south (nope thats east towards tower 17)

id count how many waves id count how many days out of 100- so over 5 days of south swell> happens more around a full moon- also similar for next month like if it happened the day after june full moon then it will probably happen the day after july full moon- so over 5 days> start out slack and glassy and then catch the early wave with no side current- best time maybe not the biggest but the easiest> big pumping swells- u stand in the water where u think the wave will break- or close iffin u will maybe swim out- and watch the horizon- u stand out in chest hi or bouncing on your toes looking for swells approaching and then trying to move to where the wave will break- u gonna have to duck waves and things as u search for the next perfect ride- iffin u get to where the wave is breaking then u need to turn and swim towards shore- the wave will pull u up to the top as it breaks- u have to swim towards shore early> u cant wait until the wave has already crested- so u watch the horizon as u slap the water with your shore side hand and then turn and swim as fast and hard as u can- as the wave picks u up and throws u over

for decades i have wanted to talk to working folk like special forces from -ME?- o afghanistan o iraq- seals seem cool too- i used to go to huntington beach a lot- and beech> i used to go to the beach for fun- surfers rule bullshit walks- from 9 to 2 oclock- huntington has a long sloping continental shelf leading up to the beach and also it faces almost exactly south- it catches swells from hurricanes west of mexico city real good- we found that we could go to the beach and catch rideable bodysurfing waves a lot of the time- i used to hitchhike there with a friend- i should have took the bus- the best time to catch bodysurfing waves is when the surf is rising- over say- 5 days of a rising hurricane swell- its best when the water is in a glassy condition with south swells moving up

I cant understand how she could drown tho. The only way I can think of is she ran into the water and fell, the dingoes jumped on top of her, she took one lungful of water which causes the pipe to close and she suffocated. They have a go at kids but not adults, they are too well fed there, they are all tagged and tracked. They have shot the ten suspects. Its all a bit off, I suspect drugs. Good for you. I recommend a three level defensive perimeter. Evergreen trees first, closest to the fence and pests.
Then in front of them, your deciduous trees so you get the benefit of the changing leaves and when they are bare, the evergreens behind keep the privacy.
Then your row of flowering shrubs, again you get the benefit from the flowers and they will block the lower 5 feet should there be any gaps between the trees.
Faster growing the better and pay to install drip irrigation or they will all die. Thats the crucial step, consistent watering.
