This was to be a simple missing persons check, police in another state requested it as a result of a request from a relative. It seems the request was bogus, and made so that the cops would go there at night to ask where the brother was, not knowing both were in the house tooled up.

On Sept. 19, 1863, during the battle of Chickamauga, a musket ball pierced him between the eyes, he fell backward and was left for dead on the battlefield. He distinctly recalled his captain say, “It’s no use to remove poor Miller, for he is dead.” Though blinded, he crawled through the battlefield over the dead and made his way to a field hospital. Fearful of being taken prisoner by the Confederates, he set out on a 15-mile journey to Chattanooga. He passed out along the roadside and was picked up by a man on horseback who took him to Chattanooga where he finally got his wounds dressed.
Miller had been reported dead by his captain, and his name was printed in the newspapers among the killed. Two months later, friends and family finally received word from Miller that he was alive. He received a pension from the government and could not work because of his wound. He married and had a son. Miller suffered constant pain and fits of madness, and he would often wander aimlessly. While he could not remember names, he vividly recalled the details of how he was injured and his subsequent escape.
He died Jan. 13, 1917, at the age of 88.

Queensland, its almost  a third the size of mainland USA, with 4 million people, a lot of them nutters. Qld is the fruit loop capital of Australia, Hippies, druggies, alternative lifestyles, communes, religious nuts, faith healers, you name it they are there.
Its also been a front line army town for 100 years and they have been stealing guns ever since. They also smuggle them in in boats and light planes and buy them off US servicemen.

Three camouflaged gunmen who executed two young cops and a neighbour in a cold-blooded shooting have themselves been killed in a shootout with Special Operations police in a remote part of Queensland. 

Four officers attended a property at Wieambilla, three hours west of Brisbane, shortly about 4.30pm on Monday, visiting the brother of missing man Nathaniel Train, who was last seen in Dubbo, in NSW's central west, a year ago. 

The officers walked in an ambush - with two young constables, Matthew Arnold, 29, and Rachel McCrow, 26, killed in a hail of bullets. 

A third officer was shot in the leg but managed to escape while a fourth, a woman, fled into surrounding bushland.  

The gunmen reportedly walked up and shot the officers again as they lay injured on the ground. The gunmen took the slain officers' Glock pistols from their bodies. 

They then lit a fire in a bid to smoke out the remaining female officer - who had been a police officer just eight weeks - as she hid in the bushes, texting family members in the belief she was going to die, and urgently calling for help. 

A neighbour who came to investigate the gunfire and the blaze was also fatally shot.

The female officer who took cover in the scrub was later rescued by a specialist police tactical team of 16 officers which had scrambled to the scene. 

The officer who managed to flee who was grazed in the leg was treated at hospital the nearby town of Chinchilla.

There were reports the gunmen also opened up on the police helicopter deployed to the scene.

Sporadic gunfire was reported by locals through the night before a climactic shootout with the Special Emergency Response Team police about 11.30pm which left three people - reportedly two men and a woman - dead. 

Just renewed my PAL today, possession and acquisition firearms license. The RCMP sent my renewal notice the beginning of October. It has to be renewed by January 8, my birthday. The letter the RCMP sent couldn't of been anymore threatening. They informed me that if I'm 10 seconds past the January 8 deadline, that my PAL would be nullified. They also informed me that police would be attending my residence to seize my firearms. God help the poor guy or gal who may forget to renew on time. Seems now Justin is going after the hunters and trappers. Maybe when it's said and done, I'll still get to keep my slingshot !!
