This is an easier way using Rust-Oleum Countertop resurfacing. If you search for epoxy countertops most of the videos will be a more complicated process like Stone Coat where you pour on a much thicker product and do stuff like making fake marble. One woman simply used appliance epoxy which probably won't wear as well.

Typical 70s kitchen design, but I think this started in the late 60s.
Colors and wall paper were crappy 70s folk art, gold and avocado were popular decorating colors and even basic appliance colors, you could find gold refrigerators in stock at the appliance stores to match your lovely countertops.
Folks can still find things like gold & avocado blenders in 2nd hand stores.

By the 80s things had moved on and more subtle tones like almond or sand replaced those gawd awful colors and white was once again "modern" instead of "bland".
