Satan called, and he wants his weather back. It was an unusual August day when Big Red and I embarked on an adventurous beach trip. This wasn't our usual SOP, but this year had been anything but ordinary, especially with Big Reds' mom passing. With Big Red as the mastermind behind the plan, she meticulously researched the internet to organize a schedule that would grant us a golden opportunity to photograph the Blue Angels from Johnson Beach. The mere thought of those jets ripping down the shoreline with halos around their fuselage filled us with excitement.
As we arrived at the Beach, we encountered a couple of problems: not only were we facing a relentless heat wave, but I had also forgotten our special lightweight beach chairs. A quick trip to the store meant I would be packing an extra 10 pounds down the Beach, and at my age, you definitely want to hump less, not more. With Satan seemingly in control of the weather and no breeze to cool us down, it truly felt like we were in the depths of HELL! You could hear the heat sizzling 102 on the beach. However, we refused to let the scorching conditions dampen our spirits. We were determined to make the most of this adventure.
Setting up our equipment, we soon realized we had positioned ourselves too far off the flight path of the Blue Angels. It was a bit disheartening, but we took it as a valuable learning experience.
Just when we thought things couldn't get any worse, the unexpected happened. The Blue Angels seemed to sense our determination and misfortunes, and they showed us some mercy. During the last few rounds of their show, they held their course for what felt like an eternity, flying right over us. Then they started puffing smoke, creating a mesmerizing sight. At that very moment, I truly understood why they were called "angels."
Despite all the difficulties and obstacles we faced, witnessing the incredible performance of the Blue Angels made it all worth it. Our adventure had been filled with trials and tribulations, but it taught us the value of perseverance and the sheer joy of unexpected rewards at the end of the journey. It was a memory that Big Red and I would cherish for a lifetime, reminding us of the incredible experiences we can share when we tackle challenges together and embrace the awe-inspiring wonders that life throws our way.

Hello everyone. The best cure for chiggers is prevention. It's the red spider mite. He bites you injects a enzyme that breaks down your tissue. He drinks/ eats then leaves. The itching is the residual enzyme continuing to break down your tissue. I have constant battles with them here in FL. Wear rubber boots and keep areas covered around arms waist etc.
