Patriots point SC. Weekend vacation. Uss Yorktown is really well curated now and a blast to tour. Vastly improved from 2017 when I was last here.
Here is my Mate Murray being the old School Principal that he was. Two weeks after Pancreatic Cancer. Giving back to kids once again. Murray was the Principal of Point Pearce, an Aboriginal Settlement in Sth Australia. Each morning he would get all the kids that turned up on time to walk around the town to get all the kids that slept in. He taught those kids he "educated me misser wilis" He paid for some of them to go to University. He is revered in the Aboriginal Communities. As "Murray done learn them kids". All the parents wanted for their kids in the 50s and 60s was for their kids to get "proper learnin you teach this little bastard please Willis". One of his Students went on to be the first Aboriginal Woman to Graduate University and became a Doctor the first of her kind. He paid for it all. He is the finest MAN I have ever met. I cant begin to tell you what we got up to and still get up to but if you look at the other videos with this one you will get the idea. He drives around in a Roller that looks like a Ship and picks up Aboriginals and drives then around for the fun of it because he knows their people. I was with him once in the middle of Adelaide and we stopped to say hello to some Aboriginal boys They were hanging in the windows having a chat. Next thing Coppers came from everywhere! Are you alright? STAND BACK Ole Murray looks at the Coppers and says "Im fine these are my MATES" The Coppers retreat and to this day they dont know what happened. It just struck me that movie Mississippi Burning kinda thing. Anyway without further Ado The One And Only I think this snippet shows the depth of his character Hes with a young Lad who is the Grandson of one of his Staff. Men get old and they have to talk to someone who is not family.
Well Ole Murray and his 83 year old wife who looks 63 flew to Perth. Had to leave the Rolls Royce at home. Were given an Audi. Not happy the handbrake keeps putting itself on at lights and roundabouts hes going to get it up the Ass for sure he reckons.

Calloo Callay! some action AT LAST!
Finally our local Member of Parliament has responded to my cries. At 5pm on a Sunday. Most unusual.
I sent her this that is not my words but its from a woman here and carries more weight than a message from a grumpy old man.
Who dictates our towns future! Who dismisses us with no thought or care for the people who actually live in our town.
As a town we have no voice and no hope! We are nothing to Goyder Council or the HCSA, or the endless 12 years of empty Strategic Plans!
Who do these benefit, not Hallett. Hallett Community and Sports Association Inc has it's own private agenda.
As a community we had so much to give, we wanted progress and community inclusion, work as a team. We were willing to volunteer our time to better our town but that has been sucked out of us. All hope for our town is gone.
Our town centre, our Memorial Park is a dust bowl, 11 months our Centataph, built to honour' the people who fought for our country, who died for our town is neglected. The hero's of our town, their families who lost their loved one's monument desecrated at the hands of our own council. No where for solace and reflection for our town veterans and their sacrifice, not even a lawn to sit on.
So many of us in this town served our country but we mean nothing as veterans to the HCSA or the Goyder Council. We are whingers, always complaining. It's all about the Strategic Plan, words, pages and pages of them, no action, meaningless banter for who, who benefits most from these Strategic plans.
Our Memorial Park
Only picnic table gone and shelter gone.
No where for travellers to stop and have picnics, no where for people to take a break in what was our town's centre, our garden is gone with all our hopes for a better future, a better town. So much for supporting our town business prospects. They are left to flounder in a depressed economic environment.
Pool Precinct and Camp Ground
The town rallied together to save our pool precinct. Our voices hushed, dismissed. What happened to the money set aside for $5000 pool feasibility study.
Table and chairs left around the Pool Precinct to decay locked up for over two years when they could be used for our picnics in the shelter shed or taken up to the camping Amenity Block but no, they would rather see it all decay then give them to the town's folk to use.
Then there's the camp toilets and showers, google says no, don't camp in the Hallett camp grounds. Best keep well away. So no immediate plans to clean it up. The town wanted to do it now, bring some much needed funds into the town but it's all in hand in the Strategic Plan!
Our town toilets on the Barrier Highway stink 24/7, not our contract cleaner's fault, they are beyond repair, old and neglected. Our only wheelchair friendly toilet cut off from being used as there is no actual wheel chair path and no signage. Hide the only wheel chair toilet from the ones who need it most.
Money could be spent now to improve the camp ground but no, another strategic plan. Can't do that, we just want to sit year after year doing nothing.
The whole Hub area, the pride of few and old tennis courts are unkept and are a garbage tip. Old tennis club buildings left to rot, trees growing out of gutters. These building could be repurposed. Old tennis courts enclosures an eyesore as the old fences left up are obstacles to larger vehicles entering the camp ground with no safe entry, lighting or directions.
Nothing done for our town accept build a private sports club for member's only using $500000 of grants redirected away from the town for so few, while our town oval, pool precinct and camp ground look derelict. In four years nothing ticked off the
2019 Strategic plans not one outcome has been met, not one. Let's go back to 2012. Same regurgitation of words copy and paste but no progress and no substance, all words no action, most of the positives in the 2012 Strategic Plan that were ticked off are now gone, left derelict, we have gone backwards in the 12 years not forward.
The past 4 years our community have worked hard, cleaning up our streets, mowing council and HCSA leased lands, cleaning out the road gutters full of debris, it all amounts to nothing because the HCSA and Goyder Council don't care about the people who actually live in Hallett. We had pride! We are political pawns for our councillor and the back door deals. Our hopes as a unified town working together as a team is gone. Two people benefit from the Goyder Council and are paid, we the people of Hallett are nothing to them. They only look after their own business interests. Just sadness and misery for our town with no hope for our future.
