1974-75 my ex-wife Tina and I were driving between Carolina Beach and Ft
Fisher AFS, Kure Beach N.C. and saw a bird flapping in the middle of the road.
It was a seagull and I threw a cloth over him and took it to the site.
We went to the emergency room it was Saturday and called the medic on standby.
When he came out and saw his patient was a bird, he was pissed.
He yelled "you said his name was John on the phone".
"Yes his name is Johnathon the Seagull", I answered.
The medic showed us how to splint the broken wing and did show much love to Johnathon.
We kept that bird for many months and after about 9 months took him to the beach and after several attempts at throwing him into the wind. Alas, he couldn't fly just like the medic warned us.
I did some checking and found a shelter about 2 minutes from our house right on the beach front for a little zoo and pond for animals from that part of the country.
They took birds and animals that were injured permanently.
We let Johnathan out of the box and he was very glad to get away from the box and especially me. I was sad to see him go but glad for his freedom.
No more boxes or cages for Johnathon
I got my orders for a remote tour to Korea a few weeks later.
I never went back to the states for 10 1/2 years, and managed to divorce 2 times by 1991.
But did manage to hold on to this one for 30 years.

Good evening Everyone. Mower repaired and strong. Drilled, taped installed grease fittings on the blade housing to keep bearings greased. New belt. Only disagreement was with a safety cover. Their overrated. Was in my way and had a satisfying snap when I ripped that fucker off. Hope Everyone is enjoying their weekend
