They put us through the gas chamber week 3 of boot camp and then every flippin year we had to "requalify". I never got used to it.

Some type of tear gas training must be in basic training in the US toni guess.
But of course you is supposed to put on a mask :-)

I can tell you from my experience with CS you can develop resistance to its effects. I use to get a lot of my beer by betting my fellow soldiers I can stay in an enclosed area for 5 minutes of more unmasked for a flat case of my favorite. I even got this Col to bet me 1 case for 5min and addition case for very 2 min after that I was able to resist the gas. He ordered me out after 3 cases cause he knew it would get costly if he didn't. When we got to the rear to clean up and prepare for our garrison duties he showed up with those beers in hand cold and ready to drink. He said Sgt. you tough SOB you would of died in there if I didn't order you out and I said Sir I just like beer. He shook his head and left those beers there for me and never took another bet.
