there is a thing i wanted to mention- ptsd- im not sure what it is and i dont understand it so good- these guys are supposed to be suffering from shell shock or ptsd and i dont understand it but i do see that it exists- so- what?- u gonna tell me u scared of loud noises? i think about it some and i realize that it is probably a good idea to be scared of loud noises- i had an experience once working on roofing- i hadnt had enough sleep and i wasnt ready to work on semi dangerous high places- i was standing on a tall laddder 2 stories up by the edge of a roof and i was tired and stupid and i knew i wasnt ready- ready or not?- and i got scared and i was 2 stories up just clutching onto the ladder and being scared and thinking i dont want to be here and i wish i could get fired so i could get on the ground and i was scared and clutching the ladder and nothing else and then i started thinking that if the ladder fell then i should jump away from the sidewalk around the house and try to land on the lawn- also i was remembering that i should land like how they taught in jump school- after a while i stopped clutching the ladder and finished whatever tasks i had- i was still scared but i resolved to land on the lawn
dang i watched 5 hours of shawn ryan interviewing ed penney- i saw an 8 minute part and then the full 5 hours- it was ok for a couple of hours- he talked about interesting military experiences and sad things for two hours- then he talked about God and alcohol for 2 hours and then he talked about God sending him miraculous visions- i think he was sharing a private part of himself when he talks about his problems with post combat- i think he was trying to help others deal with -sadness- it was ok for a couple of hours- but the other stuff didnt apply to me much- i dont drink- i have seen 3 shawn ryan interviews now- they tend to go from military experience to marriage problems

Funny but our Crewserved weapons teams are taught all those terms. We are taught to keep dope on our weapons to update range cards. We also use term UKD for range cards. When on T&E we say come up three or down Three thats for closing in on enemy dialing in T&E on Target. You wouldn't know that, its for defensive positions crewserved weapons.

Mayor Tomeka Butler announced the one week extension during a town meeting held on Thursday, December 29. The curfew will remain in place until January 3rd at 6 a.m.This comes after an increase of violence activity throughout the city the past few weeks. They include several shooting deaths at a Eudora apartment complex. Mayor Butler says this action was taken to protect all citizens. “This has to stop. We need a resolution. I’m grateful that our council has agreed to extend the curfew past the New Year’s celebration,” said Butler. “We all know that guns are prevalent in our community during this time. We don’t want anyone else’s life to be taken anymore. We want everyone to feel safe. This is home, and if you can’t feel safe at home, then what are we doing? It’s time to wake up.” Other law enforcement agencies have been contacted to assist the Eudora Police Department during this time.The mayor of Eudora, Arkansas has put the city under a "mandatory civil emergency curfew" effective immediately due to the "rash of unnecessary violence" that has occurred in the city. Tina had a laser glaucoma procedure on Thursday, it went well, they are trying to lower the pressures on her eyes before cataract surgery in a few months…… today was R&R and we are doing a package deal at the Hilton Oakbrook Hills Resort with Vegas Rat Pack impersonators and a 17 pcs band! I actually met a guy claiming to be a retired SEAL. It was at the batting cages in Santa Rosa, Northern California where I live. I wrote about it on facebook. I was hitting, he was watching with his grandkids and waiting for a turn. He mentioned that he is thinking of coaching his grandkids, because his "Doc's at the VA have told me to get active". I went "Oh! You served our country in the military? Outstanding!" I introduced myself, and he started talking. 1st thing.."I was a SEAL, retired now, got too old, ha".
He kept talking, and I thanked him for his service. I was immediately wary, something was off. I have never met a SEAL in person before. Still, after all of these years being around your online presence, Senior, I had a feeling in my bad knee that he was a fake, lol. So I took a picture. I still have it
I started talking like you, asking about class #, team assignment, but slowly and giving him room to think and respond. My mind was racing. He told me he was a SEAL in Vietnam. I told him "Wow. That is special. My Father served in Vietnam, in the Army".
I wanted to ask him if he was Team 1 or Team 2 in Vietnam, but I caught myself and just asked "what team were you on?". He said "Team 3"
I was so mad. I hid it for a little bit. Team 3 was not commissioned until 1983, right? How could he be in Team 3 in Vietnam. Not fucking possible.
He kept talking. Talked about weapons and his favorite types, talked about having to "bail out Marines all the time"....which is fucking dumb. So I interrupted him, and asked "Were you ever on the shooting range and handed the Drager? That thing is a beast". "He goes "Oh yah, it was a big caliber, not many could master it" or something like that.
Then I broke off my act and told him "Look. There is no way you were on SEAL Team 3 while in the Vietnam war. The dates don't work. SEAL Team 3 was not yet commissioned. And, there is no Drager on a shooting range. It is a rebreather, a dive rig. You would have been all over that thing in BUD/S especially in 2nd phase in the pool. For months. It is not a gun. Enough. Do not engage in Stolen Valor, because that is what you are doing right now" .. I said something like that. And then I told him "My Father served in Vietnam. He never talks about it. Here we are, we just met, and you are telling me about bailing out Marines? You said your bullshit to the wrong person. Knock it off. Stop."
He left. I was so mad. Fuming. He was a dumpy man too. How many people has he told this too?? And they look at him and wonder about SEALs...I hate that.
Thanks for teaching me and all of us how to talk to these Stolen Valor offenders. It needs to be done, the shaming part. Hopefully I spooked him in front of all the people there, and he'll stop.

Even an old whistlepig hunter kept a "dope book" of the longer fields he hunted. A little groundhog can get mighty hard to hit at 500+ yds. A sub minute rifle will still have trouble hitting a 4" target at that distance.But it's fun when ya do. Knowing the range is just the first part of the equation.

Hello good people, had the day off yesterday and today. Tina had a laser glaucoma procedure on Thursday, it went well, they are trying to lower the pressures on her eyes before cataract surgery in a few months…… today was R&R and we are doing a package deal at the Hilton Oakbrook Hills Resort with Vegas Rat Pack impersonators and a 17 pcs band! Hi Senior!
I actually met a guy claiming to be a retired SEAL. It was at the batting cages in Santa Rosa, Northern California where I live. I wrote about it on facebook. I was hitting, he was watching with his grandkids and waiting for a turn. He mentioned that he is thinking of coaching his grandkids, because his "Doc's at the VA have told me to get active". I went "Oh! You served our country in the military? Outstanding!" I introduced myself, and he started talking. 1st thing.."I was a SEAL, retired now, got too old, ha".
He kept talking, and I thanked him for his service. I was immediately wary, something was off. I have never met a SEAL in person before. Still, after all of these years being around your online presence, Senior, I had a feeling in my bad knee that he was a fake, lol. So I took a picture. I still have it
I started talking like you, asking about class #, team assignment, but slowly and giving him room to think and respond. My mind was racing. He told me he was a SEAL in Vietnam. I told him "Wow. That is special. My Father served in Vietnam, in the Army".
I wanted to ask him if he was Team 1 or Team 2 in Vietnam, but I caught myself and just asked "what team were you on?". He said "Team 3"
I was so mad. I hid it for a little bit. Team 3 was not commissioned until 1983, right? How could he be in Team 3 in Vietnam. Not fucking possible.
He kept talking. Talked about weapons and his favorite types, talked about having to "bail out Marines all the time"....which is fucking dumb. So I interrupted him, and asked "Were you ever on the shooting range and handed the Drager? That thing is a beast". "He goes "Oh yah, it was a big caliber, not many could master it" or something like that.
Then I broke off my act and told him "Look. There is no way you were on SEAL Team 3 while in the Vietnam war. The dates don't work. SEAL Team 3 was not yet commissioned. And, there is no Drager on a shooting range. It is a rebreather, a dive rig. You would have been all over that thing in BUD/S especially in 2nd phase in the pool. For months. It is not a gun. Enough. Do not engage in Stolen Valor, because that is what you are doing right now" .. I said something like that. And then I told him "My Father served in Vietnam. He never talks about it. Here we are, we just met, and you are telling me about bailing out Marines? You said your bullshit to the wrong person. Knock it off. Stop."
He left. I was so mad. Fuming. He was a dumpy man too. How many people has he told this too?? And they look at him and wonder about SEALs...I hate that.
Thanks for teaching me and all of us how to talk to these Stolen Valor offenders. It needs to be done, the shaming part. Hopefully I spooked him in front of all the people there, and he'll stop.

My Dad had a book in the navy,he wasn't a snipper. But it had what Port they were in and their next Port. How long the we staying Etc.What went on on the ship. I believe he had something about an officer. Is that a DOPE Book?

Even an old whistlepig hunter kept a "dope book" of the longer fields he hunted. A little groundhog can get mighty hard to hit at 500+ yds. A sub minute rifle will still have trouble hitting a 4" target at that distance.But it's fun when ya do. Knowing the range is just the first part of the equation.
